Career Center Maroc: STAGE USAID CAREER CENTER

BACKGROUND

FHI 360 and partners, International Research and Exchange Board (IREX), Education for Employment (EFE) and Golden Resources (GR), are implementing the USAID Career Center in Morocco. The activity is being implemented in close coordination with the Government of Morocco (GOM) counterparts: The Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Education. USAID Career Center will play a central role in advancing USAID Morocco and the GOM’s broader goal of increasing the employability of young Moroccans. The program will establish career development centers linked to universities and the vocational training system, and incorporate work readiness training into the Moroccan tertiary education system, vocational training system, and workplaces where these skills will contribute to the employability and performance of youth.

USAID Morocco has designed the USAID Career Center program to assist young people’s transition from education to employment. This will be achieved through reinforcing youth’s critical soft skills such as communications, teamwork, critical thinking, as well as job search skills, such as resume writing and interviewing via face to face training and career center services but also through virtual training and online services.

This intern position is designed to provide support to the Career Center Specialist who directs training and programming for six career centers throughout Morocco. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in workforce development programming and will be familiar with the Moroccan context.

OBJECTIVES

Under the supervision of the Career Center Specialist the intern will participate in the following activities:

  • Provide administrative support to the Career Center Specialist;
  • Coordinate the availability of Trainers and the Career Center staff for training planning
  • Monitor and update of Career Center workplans;
  • Ensure follow-up of the availability of training materials and tools for Career Centers;
  • Support staff recruitment process including the editing and publishing of vacancies and the organization of applications and interview coordination;
  • Organize periodic meetings with the Career Centers;
  • Assist in the preparation and organization of meetings: Counselors, Directors, Career Center Student Ambassadors;
  • Organize files sent by the Career Centers: monthly reports of activities, monthly planning;

QUALIFICATIONS

·      Bachelor’s degree in higher education administration, international affairs, or related field;

·      Fluency in French and English; Arabic preferred;

·      Interest in workforce development programming and improving youth employment in Morocco;

·      Willingness to learn new skills and work in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment.
