Jumia Morocco is looking for an Artificial Intelligence Geek, a Machine Learning/Deep learning Engineer to help us improve our data-driven culture and processes as we want to make Jumia a seamless experience to our users by delivering relevant results and suggestions for the right audience at the right time.
This job consists in creating the foundations of advanced decision support tools by learning and optimizing data driven solutions:
- Extract and engineer information to support data preprocessing stages;
- Implement / Develop algorithms to achieve robust and scalable solutions for the problem under study;
- Run A/B testing processes to analyze the performance and accuracy of the developed model;
- Collaborate with product and dev team to identify machine learning opportunities;
- Work with the product team to define how machine learning can integrate in the main product areas (search engine, marketing newsletters, dynamic content, etc.);
- Coach the development team and co-develop with them the most complex features.

- Creativity & Intellectual Curiosity
- Business acumen vision : Solid strategic understanding of the industry you’re working in
- Strong analytical skills : SAS and/or R – In-depth knowledge of at least one of these analytical tools, R is preferred.
- Python Coding along with Java, Perl, or C/C++.
- Hadoop Platform : Having experience with Hive or Pig is also a strong selling point. Familiarity with cloud
- SQL Database/Coding : Write and execute complex queries in SQL.
- Work with unstructured data
