ROLE SUMMARY

We are seeking a strong candidate to fill a Knowledge Expert (KE) and Team Manager position within the BCG Knowledge Team. This professional act as an expert resource for consulting and client teams on Global Advantage topics – especially on geopolitics and trade impacts. They will support the Topic Leader to further build the geopolitics and trade impacts topic including growing commercial footprint as well as intellectual property. They will deliver projects and initiatives to support the advancement of the Practice Area and also manage and coach a team of analysts, helping them further develop their skillsRESPONSIBILITIESWork with consulting teams (both proposal and case work)

  • Apply expert knowledge to satisfy complex client demands and deliver existing assets on Global Advantage Projects –especially on geopolitics and trade impacts
  • Insert oneself into business, establishing credibility with client and consulting teams as an expert in the topic area
  • Take positions/draw conclusions on a range of external and internal issues
  • Provide expert perspective on methodology and leads scoping, work-planning and day-to-day activities
  • Shares fresh and commercially relevant topic/sector expertise with case teams to support client work
  • Play leading role in supporting BCG Partners and Principals with proposal and lead work leveraging topic expertise
  • Assist others in navigating the Global Advantage knowledge network by connecting them with articles, materials, BCG perspectives, and people

Support Global Go-to-Market in Emerging Markets Topic Team

  • Develop specialized knowledge that can be leveraged across other BCG practices; present own original content in internal and client settings
  • When embedded in case teams – identify content to be scaled beyond case
  • Develop and execute topic strategy / content map together with the Topic Leader and global topic cadre
  • Collaborate on planning and management of the topic agenda with topic lead
  • Identify topic/sector gaps & suggests knowledge initiatives to management
  • Contribute to proposals or other investment initiatives in the topic, including intellectual capital development projects
  • Contribute to and edit external and internal publications or communications
  • Develop and manage key Global Advantage products and tools end to end– including analytics-oriented ones; ensure best of knowledge is captured into Global Advantage knowledge infrastructure
  • Promote innovation at BCG by recognizing new concepts in the topic and facilitating their capture.
  • Support commercial growth of the topic in existing and new markets
  • Leading marketing activities internally (affiliation) and externally (publication, events, etc) in coordination with GA marketing manager and topic leaders

Manage Projects/Initiatives

  • Support the Regional Practice Area Leader in the growth of the Global Advantage Practice Area case work and affiliation in Africa
  • Lead Global Advantage initiative to ensure quality of knowledge capture and go-to-market materials
  • Support the local office, e.g. train analysts or consultants, and represent the Global Advantage practice area at local events
  • Support and lead internal initiatives in the Knowledge Team to improve collaboration across topics and regions, to increase efficiency and effectiveness of internal processes etc.

Manage a knowledge team

  • Function as a line manager for a team of Global Advantage Knowledge Analysts
  • Manage team’s capacity and deploy resources according to business needs – taking into account key KPI’s
  • Help team members structure and prioritize their work, in alignment with other (Senior) Knowledge experts & managers
  • Ensure high quality output from team members
  • Drive goal setting, performance evaluation, career tracking, and long-term professional development
  • Play active role in recruitment and onboarding according to business needs

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 7-10 years of overall experience spanned across macroeconomics, geopolitics, bi/multilateral trade policies
  • Advanced university degree and demonstrated high academic achievements
  • Demonstrated expertise in understanding the implications of a change in trade trends and regulations on businesses
  • Experience macroeconomic, sociodemographic and geopolitics studies across multiple regions/countries, preferably with an emerging markets coverage
  • Strong people management experience of leading & coaching teams
  • Demonstrated expertise to facilitate business change – superior problem solving and business acumen
  • Excellent project management capabilities; ability to multi-task
  • Collaborative team manager with strong leadership and coaching skills, work ethics and service-mentality with experience of working in a matrix organization
  • Project management experience
  • Strong ability to work with multiple clients in a fast-paced environment, prioritize requests and manage expectations of client
  • Autonomous self-starter and ability to tolerate ambiguity
  • Strong presence, interpersonal, leadership and credibility skills
  • Experience working in virtual, global team (crossing time zones and cultures)
  • Strong relationship building skills (with both peers and senior stakeholders)
  • Effective written & verbal communication (will interact with clients)
